Canvas roof for the convertible version of the Stuttgart sports car. The engines should be the same as the coupe
27 luglio 2016

After the GT R which debuted at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood, here we have another version of the Mercedes AMG GT, the convertible. It has been photographed in Stuttgart in the past few days the prototype of the convertible version (the name is not certain yet but it should be AMG GT Roadster), with a canvas roof and some details that differentiate it from the coupe sister.

We are talking about the third brake light which has been moved on the trunk lid and about a slightly different design of the rear bumper with a slit on the level of the headlights. On the front we can see again the stylistic features of its progenitor coupe, with inverted trapezoidal grille which remains therefore the prerogative of the most extreme GT R.

Talking about the interiors, the only difference should be the switch for the convertible top while there might be the possibility of having the Airscarf system (hot air that comes out at the height of the neck of the passengers) integrated in the headrest.

Obviously the actual technical characteristics aren't official yet, but it is reasonable to expect under the bonnet the same V8 Biturbo 4.0-liter GT and GTS, respectively, with outputs of 462 and 510 hp and torques of 600 and 650 Nm. The gearbox should be the same 7-speed Speedshift DCT of the coupe.
